Greater Fargo Moorhead EDC President accepts position with the State of Minnesota

Fargo, N.D. (October 21, 2011) – The Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation (GFMEDC) announced today that its president, Kevin McKinnon, has resigned and will return to work for the State of Minnesota.
McKinnon will return to his position as Director of Business Development for Minnesota’s Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).
McKinnon cited personal reasons for his decision to leave the GFMEDC.  “I am truly grateful to have served a committed board of directors and supportive public- and private-sector partners. I also had the pleasure of working with a talented staff. The GFMEDC is a great organization and a positive regional partnership. Although my time was short, we have made significant progress toward the GFMEDC’s strategy and toward building our regional team, said McKinnon.
Ann McConn, Chair of the GFMEDC Board of Directors praised McKinnon for his strong leadership and vision which has led to much success over the past year.
“Kevin’s short tenure here enjoyed an active and successful year for our area’s economic development and for the organization itself.  We are poised to continue the momentum,” said McConn.
McKinnon accepted the president position with GFMEDC in October 2010. The GFMEDC has begun the process of launching a search for a new president and hopes to have new leadership on board as quickly as feasible.
The GFMEDC strives to enhance the economy in Cass County, N.D. and Clay County, Minn. by attracting, retaining and expanding primary-sector businesses.  Its primary objective is to facilitate the creation of primary-sector jobs.  A primary-sector business is one that brings new dollars into a community through the sale of its products and services outside the trade area.  The primary sector is the foundation of an economy and the principle driver of economic development.
